Things I loved about Rancho Cordova

The time has come for me to pull up stakes and move my home base from Rancho Cordova to start my new adventure living in Yreka just south of the Oregon boarder. The longer I lived here in Rancho Cordova, the more it has felt like home to me. It is truly a community I have loved being a part of. But, with Carol and I separating, I now can be closer to my family and I am going to move as close as I can to them while still living in California.

Here is a little video to remind me of some of the things in Rancho Cordova that I have truly come to love at least made it feel like home to me.

Leaving Rancho Cordova for Yreka

Well, I am making my final preparations to leave for my next adventure which includes living in Yreka California. It's amazing considering we set down roots here in Rancho Cordova 10 years ago, just how much stuff we ended up with. We had a lawnmower, weed eater, leaf blower and lots of various yard decorations.

Most of the holiday decorations went to Carol as well as the yard furniture and the shovels brooms and other sorts of stuff like that. None the less, I needed to return the Space that we once moved into, to a state to similar of how we found it. In unwinding our selves from here in Aspen Grove RV and Mobile Home park, I had to take down the sunshade that was behind the motorhome as well as the trelace that I built to shade the front half of the motorhome from the morning sun.

I then gave the lumber to one fellow dog rescuer, and the lawn mower and the limb lopper to a different fellow dog rescuer here in Sacramento. A bunch of other left over stuff, will be going to Rescue Ranch in Yreka, which is a no-kill dog shelter that I will be volunteering for shortly.

New Entry Steps

Hi there Everyone,

Check out my new video on the re-configuration of the entry way steps into the 2003 Allegro Bus that I live in full time. I've been living in the Sacramento Area for the last 10 years, but now with my wife and I going our separate ways, I am moving to Yreka California.

The spot here in Sacramento has been the perfect location for us to live and given us flexibility that we could have never imagined anywhere else.

This is what the initial stair way looked like.

This was what my dream was for the steps.

Our neighbors Paul and Linda have been great neighbors over the years and they will be missed. Paul has been a professional truck driver and has a lot of heavy tools for repairs on his rig. Paul was willing to help me out on my idea of reconfiguring the steps so that there were three steps going into the rig, instead of the initial two.

Check out this video of my newly implemented steps.

Safe travels everyone!

My last day as a Chako Volunteer

Shortly after Carol and I moved to Rancho Cordova 10 years ago, we started volunteering for Chako Pit Bull Rescue and Advocacy. First, we volunteered at the Sacramento County Animal shelter as Pit Bull University volunteers where we work with Pit Bull classified dogs on socialization and obedience skills to help them become more adoptable.

Then we became Adoption coordinators for Chako where we worked with people who were fostering dogs for Chako to help their foster dog to find the right home to be adopted into. As time went on, Chako had fewer fosters and didn't need us as adoption coordinators. However, I continued working with dogs at the shelters and captured lots of dog videos while the dogs were out of their kennels to show what great dogs they are!

We would also help out on occasion at Chako's Pit Smart obedience classes. With the COVID 19 Pandemic, most shelter operations were shut down but our Pit Smart Obedience classes continued on. After Carol and I separated, i started filling my Sunday mornings by going to the Chako Pit Smart obedience classes for some appropriately distanced socialization.

The two main instructors for the last number of years at the Pit Smart obedience classes have been Shannon Peirce and Paulette Sevier, two ladies I have worked with extensively over the years. I was honored that they asked me to come help out at the First class of 2021 for the basic obedience class. I was thrilled because since Charlie and Pirate are now with Carol, I get some doggie time at least once a week! :-) All of the students (the owners) were great and did amazing with their dogs, and the dogs were all rock stars in their own right! This class came to a conclusion just two weeks before I move to Yreka and it was the perfect culmination to get to see some old friends. Shannon's spouse Rick came by one day to say good bye before I left which was truly special because though we politically don't see eye to eye, we have more respect for one another than anyone could imagine.

Here is a video of my last day volunteering at the Chako Pit Smart Obedience class!

Thank you everyone involved with Chako, I will never forget you.

Safe Travels!

Giving 500 dogs a new life in 2020

As anyone who knows me personally, you know that yes, I'm a liberal. And, as part of my liberal bent, I'm big into community service. Before moving to the Sacramento region, had done volunteer work for a non-profit youth group in the Bay area for over 9 years. Since living in the Sacramento area, I have volunteered for 3 different animal shelters and two different dog rescues. At the end of February, I will be moving up to Yreka to be closer to my family. Luckily while up there looking for a place to live, I found 'Rescue Ranch', a no-kill dog rescue in Siskiyou county. They have asked me to do what I love doing, and that is dog videos. So once I get moved up there, I plan to do just that. In the mean time, I look forward to working on what projects I can.

Here is the first video I did which highlights the fact that in 2020, Rescue Ranch found new homes for over 500 dogs.

Safe travels all!
