June - 2024

Total camping trips in the motorhome: 149

Total solo camping trips: 86

Well, hi there all, the Month of June was a barn-burner of a month. it was very busy professionally and personally. I don't think there was a weekend that I didn't have something going on. Aside from trying my best to keep up with going to the shelter and working with shelter dogs and doing dog videos, there were a couple of weekends that I did take off from that volunteer effort.

The first weekend in June, I made a speed trip up to Ashland Oregon to visit Mike's brother Chuck and his wife Teri. I took Friday off, drove up Friday morning, and drove home on Sunday. On my way up to Chuck and Teri's, I stopped at Siskiyou Humane to say "Hi" to some friends and also visit with Milo a shelter dog who was pulled from Siskiyou County Animal shelter when I was a volunteer there and had been at Siskiyou Humane for over 300 days. I brought some donated food to Siskiyou Humane and visit with two of my good friends Riley Withrell and Crystal Cavnar.

While I was there, visiting with Milo, I made an impromptu adoption video plea, which actually got Milo adopted that weekend! The picture below is of the emaciated Milo, when he first came in to the Siskiyou County Animal Shelter. As you can see from the video, Siskiyou County Shelter saved Milo, and Siskiyou Humane Society got him healthy again!

One of the best times that I've had in a very long time, was attending the Livermore Rodeo with Ally, my partner who I do dog videos with. This Rodeo was an absolute blast. I also have a video included that shows some of the amazing performances those at the Rodeo performed.

Ally had a friend who was willing to give her a bed that they no longer needed and that Ally sorely needed. So, I helped Ally, her friend Wendy and Wendy's son to get the bedroom set moved into Ally's bedroom. Sadly, while we were taking apart Ally's old bed, Ally's was struck in the head by the falling headboard. Fortunately, Ally was not severely injured. Though I will admit, I truly enjoy Ally's company, her boy dog Raider, well, he and I have certain connection that I just can't explain. Ally, thank you for sharing Raider with me once in a while.

Karen and Mikes wedding anniversary is on the 14th of June. this year, I cashed in all of my Southwest miles and made a speed trip to Connecticut to visit them one weekend. We had such a wonderful visit, and it was so nice to see that they are settling in nicely into their very small apartment. I'm glad that they have such a large extended family there to support them. I miss Karen and Mike so very much, and I frankly don't know how often I will be able to go back and visit, but I'm glad that they have what they need back there.

In witnessing their situation, I am concerned about my own situation as I grow older. I don't want to become a burden on anyone. Katie has her mom, and her dad Brian and his spouse Kevin to worry about. Kris and Laura are caring for Karen and Mike and Laura's family to worry about as they get older. I just don't see that I will have any place to land when i get infirm, but I accept the choices that I have made. Hopefully, my end will be a quick one and before I have to rely on anyone so that I don't become someone's problem. I don't wish my life to end any time soon, but I sure don't want anyone to have to care for me.

On the flight back to see Karen and Mike, I saw a movie "Arthur the King". It was about a marathon team that befriends a dog that had been neglected. The dog attached himself to the team of marathoners and a bond formed. The dog almost didn't survive the race, but he did, barely. I cried through the last half of the movie and all I had was this one Southwest cocktail napkin to get me through it.

I absolutely love my Jeep Wrangler 4XE... It is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I've got over 49,000 miles on it, and it hasn't had any problems, except one. Because of all of the miles I have put on the Jeep, I am now on my third windshield and my third "Adopt don't Shop" windshield sticker... This order of stickers though included flag oriented stickers for the Jeep on the side of the vehicle. This is getting expensive. LOL.

Here is the Video to this months VLOG.

Safe travels all... Eric and Remi too
