Yreka and Klamath Falls for an airshow June 27th, 2022

Destination number: 10/181/39 (Same number - we haven't moved since the last blog entry.)

Well, even though since my last blog entry, the motorhome hasn't rolled to any place different, it doesn't mean that I don't have anything to report. One of the things I never mentioned when I was married on  my wifes and my blog was that when the really hot weather started to set in, of course we would run the air conditioners to keep the place cool. No particular surprise about that. However, what was at least unusual for most that read that blog, would have been to find out that we would save energy by drip dying laundry hanging in the RV. For me, being a guy, I don't care if anyone knows this about the Full time RV lifestyle, so here you go! :-) In the early morning I would run a load of laundry and then hang it up in late morning. This allows the cloths to be dried before it gets so hot that I have to turn the Air conditioners on.

On Friday of this week, I took off work a couple hours early and hooked up with a couple of the Rescue Ranch staff members at the Siskiyou County Credit union. You see, the credit union has opened a new branch office, and they were having a customer appreciation event, and they offered for us to bring some dogs to see if we could get some adoption interest. Well, never being one to turn down time with dogs or to spend time with similarly like-minded people, I was happy to join in and see if we could drive some interest. We had two very well-behaved dogs as well as some wonderful puppies. Though it was a hot afternoon, we kept the dogs in the shade and always had water ready for them. Though unfortunately we didn't have any actual adoptions at the event, we let the community know we were there, and we had a few families that were definitely interested and planned to spend more time with the dogs at the ranch in the very near future.

On Saturday the 25th of June, I drove about an hour and a half to Klamath Falls which is northeast of Yreka to see Sentry Eagle 2022, an Air Show and Open house put on by the Klamath Air National Guard base. This event was free to everyone in the community, and it was reminiscent of attending the California Capital Air Show in the past at Mather Airport in Rancho Cordova. Though the scale of the airshow was small in comparison to the California Capital Air Show, the enthusiasm was just as high as any show I had been to before. There was a huge crowd, and the line was over a mile long to get into the event. it took well over a half hour just to walk to the gates to get cleared for entry. There were a number of great community outreach booths for disaster preparedness as well as armed forces recruiting. People are of course yearning for normalcy in our post COVID world, but also the event was free, and of course we all love and respect our men and women that serve in the armed forces! There were a lot of great air demonstrations as well as a lot of aircraft on static display. The highlight for me was an F-15 piloted by Major Anderson! LOL Also, as I get older, there fewer and fewer things older than I am, but there was a B-17flying fortress from World War II on static display which was great to see if even from a distance.

Next week, my niece Kris is flying in from Connecticut to visit with her mom and dad Karen and Mike, I'm super excited to see her in a few days!

Here is the link to this week's video.

Safe travels everyone!

Remi and Eric too!
